Qatar is going all out for the 7th National Sports Day celebrations.
More than 62 public and private sector organizations are set to take part in the 2018 NSD celebrations. In Katara Village alone, thousands are expected to participate, including 10 sports federations, 10 food companies, 14 health institutions and 11 ministries.
As part of the festivities, Katara will open its facilities, playground and beach for both Qatari nationals and expats.
The NSD has always been about community participation. All segments of society, whether they are expats, children and even people with special needs are welcome to participate and enjoy. Contrary to what most people might think, the NSD celebrations are not limited to sports, entertainment is also a big part of the festivities.
The Aspire Zone, another popular destination during NSD, has a long line-up of activities for everyone during the holiday, which includes the much anticipated Fun Run and Dodge Ball.
Sports Corner, one of the oldest and most recognized sports retail companies in Qatar, will have their Sports Fair dubbed as the Amazing Open Event. Men, women and kids can openly participate in sports and games and win surprise gifts. The sports fair will be held at the Aspire Park on Sports Day. As an added treat, Sports Corner and Adidas stores will have a special sale on selected items from February 9 to 13.
The Al Faleh Group College and the University of Aberdeen is organizing a Fun Run for the NSD. Students, college staff, and family members are expected to take part in the event which will be held at Al Ghariya Street in Al Waab at 8:30 am.
