The Henley Passport Index, which is based on exclusive and official data from the International Air Transport Association, identified the world’s most potent passports for 2023. (IATA). Out of 227 global destinations, the ranking is based on how many of them their holders can visit without a prior visa.

With a 100 score for visa-free countries, Qatar is now ranked 55th on the list. With a visa-free score of 99, Qatar has moved up 2 ranks from its 2022 level of 57. The year 2020 saw Qatar achieve its highest score, placing 54th.

Japan topped the list for the fifth consecutive year, with 193 visa-free destinations. At 192 visa-free locations, South Korea and Singapore are tied for second place.

Analysts predict that Kuwait and Qatar will sign a visa-free agreement with the EU in 2023, which will significantly raise both countries’ Henley Passport Index scores as citizens of those nations will be able to travel to all 27 EU member states without a visa. Despite the fact that Asian nations continue to dominate the index’s very top, the growing passport strength of Gulf nations has been noted as a crucial trend for the upcoming year.
