Emirates Launches Robot Check-in Assistant and City Facility in Dubai

Robot Check-in Assistant

Emirates airline, headquartered in Dubai, has unveiled a new facility at Dubai International Financial Centre’s (DIFC) ICD Brookfield Place, featuring Sara, the world’s first robot check-in assistant.

The Emirates City Check-in and Travel Store provides customers with a diverse array of services such as flight bookings, check-in options at the city center, luggage drop-off, shopping for travel necessities, and time-saving benefits.

Emirates has introduced its first city check-in facility in Dubai, marking a significant milestone for the airline. Adel Al Redha, the COO of Emirates, expressed his enthusiasm for the new addition, stating that the “state-of-the-art facility” located in a bustling financial district, represents the next level of luxury the airline can offer its patrons. By allowing customers to avoid peak periods at the airport and minimize queueing, the Emirates City Check-in facility aims to enhance the travel experience for its customers.

Robotic Check-in System

Since Thursday, April 27, the facility has been fully operational, offering customers the convenience of dropping off their luggage as early as 24 hours and up to 4 hours prior to their flight, enabling them to arrive at the airport leisurely. The Emirates City Check-in facility is open to customers every day from 8:00am to 10:00pm, allowing them to visit and check in at their convenience.

Passengers can choose to check-in using self-check-in kiosks, dedicated desks manned by Emirates agents, or with the assistance of the world’s debut check-in robot assistant named Sara. This marks the first occasion customers will have the opportunity to interact with Sara, who was launched earlier this year at Emirates HQ.

Robot Check-in Assistant Sara: The Latest Addition to Emirates’ City Facility

Sara is an innovative, portable robotic check-in system equipped with facial recognition technology that can scan passengers’ faces and match them to their travel documents. The robot can print boarding passes and move around to assist those who require help. Sources indicate that future iterations of Sara will include arms that can transport luggage, further enhancing the check-in experience.

Pilot Program

Al Redha clarified that this project is a pilot program, and Emirates will evaluate its success and demand before considering its expansion to other locations. “Once we measure the success and demand, we will be looking at whether we can expand it to other areas,” he explained.

Hassle-free and Elevated Check-in Experience at Emirates City Check-in and Travel Store

Guests can receive specialist guidance and promotions on trending destinations while designated travel advisors can assist with future trip bookings, managing existing bookings, purchasing upgrades, choosing preferred seats, and arranging additional luggage if needed.
