His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum issued the directive as Eid Al-Fitr is approaching. He wants to ensure that federal government employees are able to provide for their families and meet their needs during the holiday.

Following the orders of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum regarding the payment of salaries to federal government employees, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, also directed that the April salary of Dubai government employees be paid on the same date, before the start of Eid Al-Fitr. This is in line with his commitment to enabling employees to meet the needs of their families and bring happiness to their loved ones during the holiday season.

The Eid Al Fitr festival is celebrated on the first day of Shawwal, which is the month that follows Ramadan in the Hijri calendar. It marks the end of the holy month and is expected to fall on the first long weekend of 2023. Based on the current calendar, it is likely to take place from Thursday, April 20, to Sunday, April 23.

The holy month of Ramadan began in the Emirates on Thursday, March 23. Islamic months are either 29 or 30 days long, depending on the sighting of the moon. Based on astronomical calculations, Ramadan is expected to last for 29 days this year.
