The excitement is building as Doha gears up to host the prestigious World Aquatics Championships from 2nd to 18th February 2024. The local organizing committee recently revealed the official logo and brand for the event, symbolizing Qatar’s commitment to delivering an exceptional sporting spectacle.
Led by His Excellency Mr. Jassim bin Rashid Albuainain, Vice Chairman of the Doha 2024 Local Organizing Committee and Secretary General of the Qatar Olympic Committee, the official delegation of Doha 2024 proudly received the World Aquatics flag during the flag handover ceremony held at the conclusion of the World Aquatics Championships – Fukuoka 2023 in Japan. This symbolic gesture marks the passing of responsibility to Doha as the esteemed host city for this upcoming sporting extravaganza.
“We have successfully secured the privilege of hosting the World Aquatics flagship event,” expressed His Excellency Mr. Al Buainain. “Qatar’s exceptional foundation, including world-class infrastructure, facilities, and expertise, will enable us to deliver a sporting experience of the highest standard. This achievement is a testament to the unwavering support of His Excellency Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee, and Chairman of the Doha 2024 Local Organizing Committee.”
The World Aquatics Championships – Doha 2024 brand showcases a captivating color palette. Drawing inspiration from the World Aquatics official emblem, the primary color is a vibrant blue. Surrounding the representation of the State of Qatar, turquoise and light green hues symbolize the Gulf, while vivid orange represents the radiant sunset. A medium purple-red shade embodies the energy and dynamism associated with sports.
“We take immense pride in unveiling the official brand of the World Aquatics Championships – Doha 2024,” stated Mr. Khaleel Ibrahim Al Jaber, The General Director of the Doha 2024 Local Organizing Committee. “As we eagerly await the arrival of elite athletes from aquatic sports and fans in Doha, this brand resonates with voices from all five continents, promising an unforgettable sporting event.”
The World Aquatics Brand features five rows, each representing one of the world’s five continents, with six points at the center symbolizing the six aquatic sports: swimming, water polo, diving, high diving, artistic swimming, and open water swimming. The fluid shapes in the rows and points mirror the graceful movement of water.
