Qatar has ordered compulsory health insurance for foreigners and visitors. According to the new law, a comprehensive health insurance system will be introduced for all foreigners, and visitors to the country, the Ministry of Public Health declared. With the help of the insurance coverage policy, basic healthcare services will be provided.
Law No.22 of 2021 regulates healthcare services within the country and functions on the growth and principles of the health sector in the State.
According to the conditions of the law, every employer is obligated to deliver health insurance for its foreign workers via insurance companies enlisted with the Ministry of Public Health. And the same responsibility is also relevant to the recruiter.
This law will get into a run in 6 months after issue, and during this period, benefits will resume being offered to all citizens. All the details will be issued by the Ministry in the coming days.
Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani issued law no. 22 of 2021 on regulating healthcare services in the country on 19th October. It will take effect six months after it is published in the official gazette.
The health insurance scheme will guide the development of the health sector and the service delivered to the public, by extracting the challenges encountered by the healthcare sector, which results in constant population growth, via the collaboration of the public and private sectors in delivering healthcare services to the population.
It will thereby decrease waiting time in the government health structures in the country, thereby being able to obtain an appointment quickly for medical consultations so that the health necessities of people are satisfied at the highest quality.
