There has been many claims worldwide of Covid19 targeting a particular group of people. From the rhetoric of older people suffering more in Italy to younger population having less danger, the rumours have travelled far and wide. To put a full stop on the issue, the Health Protection & Communicable Disease Control, Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) has published a report on 19 May, 2020 which provides detailed statistics of cases of Covid19 in Qatar. The report brings out detailed statistics of people getting affected by the Coronavirus in the gender and age groups.

As cleared in the above chart, around 67%of the total infected people come in the age group of 19 to 40 years of age. To further break it, 35% of the cases come from people in the age group 31 years to 40 years while 32.3% cases come from 19 to 30 years. Both these age groups can be considered as younger groups and to understand that, the report cites a different report. As per the population figures of March 2029 by the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics, around 73% of the total population of Qatar falls in the age group of 25-64 years of age and hence the number of cases in the bracket of 19-40 years can be justified.

The report reflects that around 90% of the total infected people in Qatar are male and that can be understood as around 73% of the total population of the country are male. The interesting part, however, is the ration of infected Qataris is Male (58.1%) Vs Female (41.9%) which is slightly to the center. The expats ratio on the other side is 91% Male Vs 9% Female.
The report further goes on to propagate the safety procedures that must be followed in order to keep the country safe while also maintaining the guidelines issued by Ministry of Public Health.
