Today, we are going to discuss the process of canceling visas in Qatar. How can you cancel a visa in Qatar without facing any difficulties! Scroll down to know everything regarding canceling visas in Qatar.
Qatar requires all ex-pats to obtain an exit permit from their sponsor before they leave the country. Qatar will not allow you to leave if you don’t have an exit permit.
As a resident permit holder, you will have to cancel your residency status and close your existing accounts before you can leave. Any fines or debts should also be paid. You should make sure everything has been cleared before you leave the country so that you don’t face further delays or have a bad record on immigration.
Article 7 of Law No.21 of 2015 stipulates that ex-pat workers or recruiters must notify the competent authorities whenever a foreign national leaves the country, at least three days in advance. Therefore, ex-pats, employees, or employees should ask their recruiter or sponsor for permission before leaving the country and once that permission is granted, they can apply for the cancellation of their visa, or what is known in Qatar as an ‘Exit Permit’.
Cancellation of Qatari Visa
You can either apply online through the Interior Ministry website, the MOI self-service machine, or you may submit the application form in person at the General Directorate for Borders Passports and Expat Affairs, or at the immigration offices in your area. To obtain an exit permit, either online or in-person, follow these steps:
Exit permit for those on company/government sponsorship:
The sponsor must fill out the exit permit application and enclose a signature and stamp as on the establishment ID.
Once approval has been granted, the PRO may submit the duly filled-out application form along with the employee’s original passport and establishment ID.
Exit permits for those on personal sponsorship
The sponsor can fill out the application for an exit permit and sign it as indicated on the personal ID.
You will need to submit the duly signed application form, the original passport of the employee, and the original personal identification of the sponsor.
For the issuance of a single exit permit, a QR10 would be taken and registered internally, and you may not be able to take a screenshot of the approved application.
Visas are usually canceled on the same day that an exit permit is issued, and they are valid for three days after they are issued (previously seven days).
In most cases, you will be notified if your visa is canceled by the visa issuing authority. Visa status can also be checked with any airline or anyone online. You can also check your visa status at the embassy or consulate of your country.
