The Hayya Card, a mandatory Fan ID introduced by the Qatar government, aims to streamline the entry process for both international and local fans during the upcoming tournament. The Ministry of Interior (MoI) in Qatar has recently declared an extension to the validity of the Hayya Card for both fans and organizers. This means that individuals holding the card from outside the country can now enter Qatar until January 24, 2024.

- To be eligible for entry, certain requirements must be met, including providing evidence of a confirmed hotel reservation or approved accommodation through the Hayya portal.
- Other conditions include having a passport that is valid for at least three months upon arrival, obtaining health insurance for the duration of their stay, and having a return ticket.
This extension to the Hayya Card also grants several additional benefits to all cardholders visiting Qatar, including:
- Access to the ‘Hayya with Me’ feature, which allows cardholders to invite up to three family members or friends.
- A multiple-entry permit to the State.
- The use of the e-Gate system for entry and exit via State ports.
- No fees are required for these services.
According to the Ministry’s statement, “the aforementioned requirements are applicable to all types of Hayya Cards used during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.” This announcement was made following the departure of most Hayya cardholders from the country as the initial validity was only until January 23, 2023.
What is Hayya Card?
The Hayya Card is an identification document issued by the State of Qatar for attendees of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™. It is a secure and personalized Fan ID that contains crucial information such as the cardholder’s name, photo, passport number, match tickets, Hayya number, QR code, and other significant details. The card is available in both digital (mobile app) and physical (printed card) formats.
As per the FIFA website, both local and international fans are required to apply for a digital Hayya Card, which is issued by the Qatari government and aligns with the country’s security strategy for the tournament. It’s important to note that FIFA has no responsibility for the application process, issuance, and/or use of the card.
Hayya Card Benefits
The Hayya Card provides the following benefits to its cardholders:
- International fans with a Hayya Card will be granted entry permits to the State of Qatar, and a visa will not be required.
- The Hayya Card, along with a match ticket, grants access to the stadium on match day.
- Cardholders can enjoy free access to Qatar’s public transport systems, including shuttle buses, the Doha Metro, and Lusail Tram, on match days.
- It allows fans entry to several activities accompanying the competition.
- The Hayya mobile app assists with smart trip planning.
- Hayya Cardholders can easily obtain multiple-entry visas to UAE and Saudi Arabia, as per the latest announcements.
Hayya Card Requirements
To apply for a Hayya Card, the following requirements must be met:
Match Ticket
Currently, Hayya Cards are only issued to holders of match tickets. Fans who have purchased at least one match ticket can apply for the card. It’s important to note that you only need to apply for the card once, even if you’ve purchased multiple match tickets.
Passport / QID
International fans are required to have a passport that is valid for at least three months after their arrival in Qatar. A scanned copy of the passport’s photo page is necessary for the application process.
The scanned file should be in either JPG or JPEG format and less than 2 MB in size. Additionally, Qatari nationals and residents can apply for the Hayya Card using their Qatar ID (QID) instead of a passport.
- The MRZ code of the passport should be visible while uploading the scanned copy.
- Failure to provide a visible MRZ code can result in rejection of the application.
- Only a single page should be uploaded, and double pages of scanned copies are not permitted.
- Properly crop the document to ensure that no crucial information is missed.

Rejected/incorrect applications:
- If your application has been rejected, you will be given the option to make two further applications . You will need to fill all the data and other additional information again.
- If you have entered any incorrect data then wait for the response to your initial application before submitting another application.
- Your application can also be amended via the Hayya portal. However, in-progress application cannot be amended.
Notes:
- There is no requirement of Hayya to buy match tickets or to book accommodation.
- The instructions given may be modified as per the announcement by the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (the organising committee of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar).
- The application process should be done in advance in order to avoid any inconvenience later.
- Existed users will also have to make a new account as previous accounts will not be transferable.
Step by step guide:
Step 1: If you are using the Qatar 2022 website to apply for the Hayya Card, you will find “Apply for Hayya”. Or, you can directly apply from Hayya Qatar 2022 portal.
Step 2: Access to the application form by selecting ‘Apply For Hayya’.
Step 3: Validate your ticket by entering match ticket details. It is mandatory to have match tickets to apply for the Hayya Card. Information regarding non-ticket holders has not been released yet.
Step 4: Enter the unique order number, if you have a ‘Match Hospitality” package from FIFA
Step 5: Fill all the application information (upload personal photo and passport, click applicant type)
Step 6: Fill Passport Number, Date of Birth and other required details.
Step 7: Fill your contact details, check your details and submit the application.
Post-application submission:
- You will get an email regarding the application status, once the application is processed.
- Local residents can get a reply email within an hour, while international fans will have to wait up to 5 days to get status confirmation.
How to receive the Hayya Card?
- You can get the digital Hayya Card via the Hayya App, once it is approved.
- Download the Hayya Card App: iOS | Android
- Local fans have the option to collect Hayya Card physically from designated service centres. However, There is no confirmation regarding service centres yet. All Hayya cards will be digital until September 2022.
Non-negotiable conditions:
- Do not give, sell or transfer to any person or organisation unless the Supreme Committee of Delivery and Legacy has allowed it.
- At the time of entry to the stadium, provide cooperation with all the necessary requirements.
- You cannot access the stadium unless all the requirements are fulfilled.
Termination or Cancellation of Hayya Card/service:
Your Hayya card or services may be terminated or suspended, if you do not follow the terms and conditions.
